Welcome to my cyber conservatory, a glass-walled, tile-floored, plant-filled room overlooking the tiered gardens of my English country manor. OK, I really live in an ordinary house in
I'm not just talking about myself, but life in general here in South Florida (well, pretty much everywhere, I guess). Not only will the locals be out in record numbers, but the snowbirds will be arriving steadily in the next few weeks to help clog the roads and make things generally crazy. Drivers will begin doing really stupid things like turning left from the far right lane because they were on their cell phone and didn't realize they were at the turn for the mall
, or driving 60 in a 45 zone in order to make it to that 12 hour sale...and the stores will be packed to the rafters and resemble a war zone. I get to the point every year where I gladly skip the sales and happily hand over the extra cash just to avoid the more rabid crowds. But in spite of it all I do love the holidays
, and I figure it's really just a matter of paring down life to the absolute essentials in order to get the shopping and all that done. I know I'll be writing less these days, (although when I do write it will be a wonderful, quiet, peaceful break from the outside frenzy of holiday preperations
), and I'm sure keeping up with the blog will fall under the "just don't have time for that" category. However, I always reward myself at the end with what I officially call "Pajama Day," which is the day after Christmas when I lounge around all day in a new set of pajama's eating the box of Godiva I make sure Santa brings me and watching our new DVD's or reading new books. We eat leftover lasagna from Christmas Day so I don't have to cook, and I generally bask in being contented and comfortable. I highly recommend it.
